NAU is located about halfway between the Grand Canyon and Sedona, AZ, and Route 66 runs right through the middle of town. Don’t think about the deserts of southern Arizona, the temperatures in Flagstaff are 20 degrees or so cooler than Phoenix. The campus is surrounded by giant Ponderosa Pines, hills and mountains and a darling town. This hidden gem of a campus offers an incredible array of majors, a lovely Honors College and WUE tuition. NAU is an R2 undergraduate-focused research institution offering 109 undergraduate and 80+ masters programs.
Biking is popular on and off the NAU campus. Bike racks and a heated walkway across campus make getting to class quickly. Trails and the nearby downtown are other destinations where students take their bikes. Downtown Flagstaff, within walking distance of campus, has fun boutiques, cafes, an outdoor gear store, deli, an independently owned bookstore and great restaurants.
NAU offers 300+ majors in 9 academic colleges: College of Arts and Letters, College of Education, College of Engineering, Informatics & Applied Sciences, College of Environment, Forestry & Natural Sciences, College of Health and Human Services, College of Social and Behavioral Sciences, and the W.A. Franke College of Business.
NAU’s Honor College offers beautiful dorms, with classrooms, a fitness room and a student support center within the dorm building. NAU is a “dark” city, focused on the night sky. The Lowell Observatory at NAU is a national landmark and one of the oldest observatories in the nation. There are rooftop star shows!
